Athletic competition plays an important role at St. Raphael. Participation in sports emphasizes to students the importance of exercise. It helps students develop a positive competitive spirit, a sense of teamwork, and skill in cooperating with others to achieve a goal. CYC Athletic programs are consistent with the overall mission of Catholic schools to develop healthy and productive moral citizens.

Organized athletics also teach kids how to be disciplined during practice, how to focus on the task at hand, and how to have patience when the going gets tough. Children playing CYC sports must also learn how to achieve balance between their schoolwork and athletics, which fosters a strong work ethic both on and off the court.

The Athletic Association provides athletic programs in the South Central District of the Catholic Youth Council to promote the educational and recreational aspects of each particular sport.Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Elementary School offers boys and girls, grades K-8, CYC Sports.
