Dear Friends,
While our Kindergarten through eighth grade students prepare for a day off in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday, January 16th, we remember Dr. King’s 1963 prophetic words about a dream. Dr. King said, “…I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal…"
And yet, we were reminded at last Friday’s Pro-Life Mass that indeed all humans are not created equal; especially for our babies who reside in the womb. Our students are learning that, while great strides have been made in light of justice and equality for many, hosts of the most vulnerable in society still experience the great injustice of abortion. Please pray for the unborn and for our leaders to rescind the 1974 Roe vs. Wade decision that has lead to the loss of over 40 million innocent lives.
In union with those who have suffered at the hands of abortion our students participated in a “half day of silence” in support of victims of abortion who have lost their dreams and voices. Middle school students in grades 5 – 8 were reverent while traveling between classes and during non-instructional times by remaining silent in solidarity and prayer for those silenced by the tragedy of abortion.
Also Friday, our History teacher Mrs. Christy Connor facilitated the annual SRA “Geography Bee.” Congratulations to all who participated, especially this year’s winners: First Place, Dominic Montero, 7th grade and 2nd Place, Kathleen Magee, 7th grade.
Thank you for your support of this very special Catholic school!
